The History of Easycamp – Camping & Caravan Direct
Easy Camp was created to serve a gap in the outdoor market: younger campers, young families and those with little camping experience who wanted gear that was simple to use, well made and reasonably priced.

Easy Camp was created to serve a gap in the outdoor market: younger campers, young families and those with little camping experience who wanted gear that was simple to use, well made and reasonably priced.
The brand was established in 1997 by Oase Outdoors, the Danish company behind Outwell, which had launched two years earlier in 1995. Outwell’s success had shown founder Henrik Arens that there was demand for a different kind of range, one aimed at people who were new to camping or only camped occasionally, and who needed equipment that was straightforward rather than specialist.
That founding idea still shapes the brand. Easy Camp products are designed to be quick to pitch and easy to live with, without pushing prices out of reach.
A relaunch and a new direction
In 2010 the brand was given a complete overhaul. It was relaunched and repositioned with a new logo, a fresh product range and a revised target audience. The changes marked a clear break from what had come before.
The relaunch appears to have paid off. Easy Camp has since moved into more markets than at any earlier point in its history, extending its reach beyond its original base.
Why the brand matters to campers
For anyone buying their first tent or replacing basic kit, Easy Camp sits in a practical middle ground. It borrows the manufacturing experience of a long-established outdoor group while aiming at beginners and casual campers rather than seasoned expedition users.
The result is a range built around ease of use and value, which is exactly what the brand set out to offer when it began.
