East Yorkshire
East Yorkshire takes in the chalk hills of the Yorkshire Wolds, the Holderness plain and a stretch of coastline running from the Humber estuary up towards Flamborough Head and Bridlington. Campsites here tend to sit close to seaside towns, nature reserves and quiet rural villages, making the county a practical base for walking, birdwatching and days on the beach.
North Yorkshire
North Yorkshire is the largest of the four and covers two national parks: the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors, as well as a heritage coastline running through towns such as Whitby and Scarborough. Campers can choose between moorland sites, dale-side farms and coastal parks, with market towns like Richmond, Helmsley and Pickering nearby for supplies.
South Yorkshire
South Yorkshire sits at the southern edge of the region and combines former industrial towns with open countryside, including parts of the Peak District National Park along its western border. Campsites in the area suit those wanting easy access to Sheffield, Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham, alongside rural walks and cycle routes.
West Yorkshire
West Yorkshire covers the Pennine valleys, the moorland around Haworth and Ilkley, and the cities of Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield and Huddersfield. Campsites here range from quiet rural pitches in the Calder and Colne valleys to sites within reach of the region’s towns, with the Yorkshire Dales and Peak District both within easy driving distance.
