South West England takes in five counties, each with a distinct appeal for campers and caravanners. Whether you are drawn to a rugged coastline, rolling farmland or open downland, the region offers plenty of choice.

Cornwall

Cornwall forms the south-western tip of England, bordered by the Celtic Sea and the English Channel. Its coastline is the longest of any English county, with sandy bays, fishing harbours and cliff paths. Inland, moorland and small market towns give the county its particular character.

Devon

Devon sits between Cornwall to the west and Dorset and Somerset to the east. It is the only English county with two coastlines, so campers can choose between the north coast’s Atlantic surf and the calmer waters of the south. Dartmoor and Exmoor add inland walking country.

Dorset

Dorset lies along the English Channel, with the Jurassic Coast running through much of it. The county combines seaside towns, chalk downland and rural villages, making it a popular choice for touring holidays.

Somerset

Somerset is a largely rural county of levels, hills and coastline on the Bristol Channel. The Mendip Hills and the Somerset Levels offer contrasting landscapes, while towns such as Glastonbury and Wells are well known to visitors.

Wiltshire

Wiltshire is an inland county in the north-east of the region, known for its chalk downland and prehistoric monuments. It borders Dorset, Somerset and Devon to the south and west.
