Gateway Holiday Park sits on the Millennium Coast at Bynea, near Llanelli in Carmarthenshire, and has long been a favourite with touring caravans, motorhomes and tents in South West Wales.

A coastal setting with wide views

The park overlooks the Loughor estuary, with sweeping views across the Gower Peninsula. Swansea is roughly half an hour’s drive away, and the Trostre and Pemberton retail parks are just minutes from the gate.

Things to see and do nearby

The site sits directly on the 22km Millennium Cycle Path, a coastal route that runs from Bynea to the forests and beaches of Pembrey Country Park. Machynys golf course is ten minutes away, and Parc y Scarlets, home of the Scarlets Rugby Club, is less than a mile from the park. The 450-acre National Wetlands Centre of Wales is two minutes up the road, and sea fishing is possible along the estuary.

Facilities, open all year

The park and its facilities stay open throughout the year, and all of them are open to the public. Whether you are staying on site or simply visiting for the day or evening, you are welcome to use the restaurant and bar, the indoor children’s play area and the indoor heated swimming pool.

Eating, drinking and entertainment

The Gate Inn combines a large family bar and restaurant with a smaller, cosier lounge bar. The family bar seats up to 260 people and hosts a variety of acts most days of the week. The lounge bar is a quieter, adults-oriented room with leather seating and a jukebox, seating up to 60.

Both bars serve John Smiths, Brains Dark, Guinness, Bulmers, Strongbow, Kronenbourg and Fosters. Major sports fixtures are shown on large-screen Sky TVs, and the atmosphere during Welsh rugby matches is hard to beat.

Food is served all day, seven days a week. The menu ranges from a traditional full breakfast and lighter bites such as jacket potatoes and baguettes to old favourites including scampi, burgers, lasagne and curries. Thursday is steak night, with an 8oz steak served with homemade chips and all the trimmings plus a pint or a glass of wine. Vegetarian dishes and a children’s menu are also available. For dessert, the cabinet holds chocolate profiterole cake, cheesecake, chocolate roulade and ice cream.

Wildlife and sunsets

With the Loughor estuary on one side and the North Gower peninsula beyond, the park is well placed for birdwatching and wildlife, and dusk brings spectacular sunsets. The Millennium Coastal Cycle Path leads from the park along the sea towards the forests and award-winning beaches of Pembrey Country Park.
